This year, Greater Good Haiti (Pi Gwo Byen) has 36 students.
Level One Class
Students start in our Level One class, where they learn to read in Creole (Kreyol) only for the first year. They are also taught math, social science, and writing. Level 1 students come to us between the ages of 9-12 with no prior experience in school. Teacher Rosemanie is an amazing educator, with patience, a kind spirit, and lots of smiles.
Level Two Class
Students spend their first year learning to read and write, learning science basics and number sense—all in Creole. In Level Two they now read to learn. They still learn in creole and we add French lessons into the mix.
Greater Good Haiti’s Level Three class is taught by Benira Paul. In Level Three, students are learning 5th & 6th grade material as well as an infusion of critical thinking and problem solving activities.
At the end of this school year these students will take the National Matriculation Exam. We have had a 100% passing rate four years running, while the national average hovers around 20%.
Thanks to all of our supporters both financially and through the work we do, we are a successful group. So far we have 44 graduates from our program. Please donate today to help support these children and those to come.
